Counseling
SHCC provides free psychological counselling for all full-time students. You may benefit from counselling when you:
- Experience problems in adapting to the university environment
- Feel unhappy, unmotivated, or troubled for prolonged periods
- Wish to understand more about yourself or to increase your self-confidence
- Feel that you are not doing as well as you should in your studies
- Wish to improve on your relationships
Feel free to contact us by phone, email or other ways (if you have classmates who need psychological help, please let us know).
Appointment Methods
1. Campus counselling (Location: 405 Student Centre)

A counselling session usually lasts for about 50 minutes and once a week. Your personal information during counselling is kept confidential. Please make an appointment at least one working day in advance in order to schedule the time (it is allowed that you do not have reservation in case of emergency). Visitors are requested to come for counselling at the appointed time. If you are unable to come on time for special reasons, please inform us by mail or telephone at least one working day in advance.
2. 24-hour psychological counselling service hotline and QQ online counselling service

Open time: 9:00-21:00, 365 days
This hotline service is open to all the University students. The hotline counsellors are all professional counsellors, who will strictly follow the confidentiality principle. Currently, this psychological counselling service is only available in Chinese. Thanks for understanding.
3. Peer Support Hotline (Not Available during exams and holidays)
Life is like a rollercoaster. Ups and downs are inevitable. Whenever you want to find someone to talk to, uBuddies are always here waiting for you.
We received 16 hours of peer counselling training and passed the strict appraisal. All peer counselors will strictly abide by the confidentiality agreement, protecting the privacy of every visitor. Our goal is to make the peer support hotline the most reassuring channel for students to pour out their worries.

In addition to the peer support hotline, do you want to talk to peer counselors face to face? uBuddies prepared peer counselling service for you!
Here, we still strictly abide by the confidentiality agreement. Before every counselling session, both student and counsellor will sign a formal confidentiality form, putting students' privacy in the first place. We have set up a real-name system for peer counsellors and an appointment system for consultation. We have also added several new peer counselors this semester, so that students can find the suitable time and counselors.
